A little known fact about me is I’m a huge bookworm. Every morning, I wake up at 4:30 am in order to get a little bit of reading in before my husband + five kiddos awake. It’s truly the only “me” time I get throughout the day, and I like to spend it with my nose in a book!

Each month I have a goal to read through at least one business or fiction book. Now, I know that isn’t too lofty of a goal, but it’s about all I can obtain with our busy household. Since I have a limited time to read, I only select books I feel will move the needle forward in my business. Some of these books have been a game changer and real eye-opener!

If you’re anything like me and have a limited amount of time to read then this post is for you! Below is a list of five books I believe every creative should have on their bookshelf!

5 Books Every Creative Should Have On Their Bookshelf

5 books every creative should have on their bookshelf
  1. Profit First by Mike Michalowicz — This book transformed my business from a cash-eating-monster to one that is thriving. If you are struggling with how to pay yourself as a business owner, save for taxes, and keep up with your business expenses then this book is for you! It’ll change the way you view money!
  2. Start With Why by Simon Sinek — Simon will challenge you to figure out the “why” behind your business. This book asks and answers the questions: why are some people and organizations more innovative, influential, and profitable than others? It reveals that people won’t truly buy into a product, service, or movement until they understand they why behind it.
  3. Superfans by Pat Flynn — looking to build a business that will last and stand the test of time? The key isn’t the best technology or having a big marketing budget, rather, it’s creating a tribe of superfans. People who will sing your praises, have your back when things get tough, and buy everything you create. You’ll learn how to create moments, build a community, and grow your business one superfan at a time.
  4. The 12 Week Year by Brian Moran and Michael Lennington — This book is a must read for anyone who is seeking a more balanced and successful personal + professional life. Not only does it introduce many great and practical ideas for improving your performance in business, it also includes step-by-step action items to actually implement those ideas.
  5. Purple Cow by Seth Godin — How do you build a brand that stands out from everyone else? You create it off your own individual strengths and uniqueness! This book will challenge you to put a “purple cow” into everything you build, and everything you do, to create something truly noticeable.

Tell me, what business books are you loving that I should add to my list? Have you read any of these books? Tell me in the comments below!
