This past weekend was exactly what I needed. A quick weekend trip to sunny San Diego with some of my best friends from High School to relax and rejuvenate!

Deanna and I arrived in San Diego late Thursday night after a full day of traveling. Bridget brought us down to this fun Quartyard Market in downtown San Diego where they had live music, food trucks, wine and some fun shop vendors. It was the perfect place to wind down from our long day of traveling, enjoy a glass of wine and start to catch up!

On Friday, while Bridget headed into work for a few hours, Deanna and I grabbed breakfast at this fun little restaurant, Snooze, that was just a few blocks from Bridget’s home. This place had one of the most creative menus that I’ve ever seen: from breakfast pot pie to breakfast tacos, Green Eggs N’ Hamwich to Peter Paul’s Ruben to Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes to OMG! French Toast.. Snooze seriously had it all. We couldn’t quite decide on what we wanted to go with so we ended up doing half a Pineapple Upside Down Pancake and half an Eggs Benedict. The food was to die for! You know I’ll be heading back the next time I’m in San Diego!

After breakfast, we headed to the beach for a bit of relaxation. We spent most of our afternoon catching up, people watching, walking the boardwalk and ended our afternoon at a cute little diner eating chips, salsa, guacamole and topped it off with a large frozen Strawberry Margarita. The beach was a bit chilly so we had completely forgotten to put on sunscreen.. We later regretted that decision because we all had a terrible sunburn for the rest of the trip (I’m still in pain!). That evening, we went to dinner at a fun restaurant in downtown San Diego to wait for Brianna to fly in from New York. I must’ve gotten too much sun because I was ill for the rest of the evening and couldn’t eat the yummy taco that I had ordered! Luckily, it only lasted for a few hours, but I ended up missing out on the catch-up conversations that lasted until 3 in the morning!

We all woke up Saturday morning feeling a little tired from Friday’s events. After getting some Starbucks coffee, we walked by the ocean at Seagrove Park and visited some cute little shops. That afternoon, we hiked at Torrey Pines State Reserve… it was a bit of a workout (and made me realize how out of shape I really am), but once we reached the top we had some amazing views of the ocean! We descended down towards the ocean and ended our hike on the beach! After a much needed shower, the four of us headed to listen to some Jazz Music at the Plaza near Bridget’s home and shared a bottle of red wine. After finishing our bottle, we headed to get some much needed sushi for dinner! I got the Mango roll that was filled with grilled shrimp, crab, avocado, topped with seared albacore and fresh mango salsa.. it was to die for!!

On our last full day of girls weekend, Bridget brought us to “The Cove” as they call it where we grabbed a quick breakfast and hung out with some adorable seals! We were able to walk on the beach and literally stand right next to them! They were the neatest little creatures, but you couldn’t get too close! Later in the afternoon, we went to the Orfila Vineyard and Winery where we sampled some delicious wine, listened to some live music and reminisced about our amazing weekend together! Bridget’s fiance, Chris, met us at the winery a bit later and we took some fun engagement pictures of them together! Bridget had this dream spot she wanted to go to at The Saulk Institute, but when we arrived all the doors were locked. Brianna was able to sweet-talk the security guard to look the other way, while another student let us into the building to get those final shots Bridget had wanted! It was the perfect spot to end our amazing trip overlooking the ocean!

I can’t express enough how much fun this girl trip was with some of my favorites from High School! It was just what we all needed.. a relaxing getaway to rest and rejuvenate! We already have plans made for our next girls trip in New York.. I’m already counting down the days!

Next month, I’ll be heading to Nashville!
